Reusing & Recycling

pic: Students sorting recycled goods.

Eastwood is a Green School and we take pride in our green initiatives, especially when it comes to reducing, reusing, & recycling.  Throughout the month of September, we’ve been taking time to teach students about recycling.  Our fifth graders play a key role in recycling.  Recently, they presented to each classroom to teach other students about what can be recycle at Eastwood.  Students prepared an info graph that could be displayed in classrooms and played a recycle sorting game with the other students.

Eastwood has single stream recycling for paper and plastics, but we’re also recycling and reusing a few other items this year.  We will continue recycling markers and oral hygiene items (toothbrushes, empty toothpaste containers, toothpaste/brush packaging, etc.), but we are also collecting toilet paper and paper towel tubes; cleaned plastic bottle caps; cleaned mascara wands; and, empty glue stick containers.

If you’d like to collect these items at your house and bring them in, we’ll recycle them, create some beautiful art work, or use them in STEM projects. Recycle boxes are located outside of the computer lab and in the STEM Den.
